“Forever grateful for all the hardships that I’ve faced, cause they brought me so much hope and joy of today. I will keep on moving on and soar free, towards the dreams of yesterme.

If there ever was a lyric to describe Phung Khanh Linh’s debut album, “yesterme”, this is it.

To have a song written by herself nominated for the prestigious Cống Hiến Awards (a.k.a Vietnamese Grammys) of Song of the Year & Best New Artist of the Year, Phung Khanh Linh has successfully claimed her spot in music lovers’ favorites. 2020 saw the beloved singer/songwriter focusing her energy into the making of her first LP, which not only helps keep her grounded but also re-introduces Phung Khanh Linh as a mainstream songstress ready to mend broken hearts together with listeners and invite them to dance their pain away.

Amidst the candy-coated beats cooked up by a team of talented producers from Norway, Singapore, Russia and USA, Phung Khanh Linh masterfully unlocks a sensational world soundtracked by synth pop, mellow R&B, and sweet ballads. 'yesteryear' serves as a monumental cornerstone of Phung Khanh Linh’s musical career and is a bold step towards even higher heights in very near future. Her debut album 'yesteryear' was nominated for Album of the Year & Songwriter of the Year at Cống Hiến Music Awards 2021.

Phùng Khánh Linh was the Spotify EQUAL artist of the month at Times Square, New York

"EQUAL does not mean that women and men will become the same but that women’s and men’s rights, responsibilities and opportunities will not be determined by whether they are born male or female. There have been too many times when I’ve been interrupted by male producers and seen my ideas for my own songs unheard until they were voiced by a man in the studio. For a long time, I felt powerless as though my voice was insignificant. Being rejected simply for being a woman is the worst thing in the world. But no more holding back. I am a firm believer that when given equal opportunity, women are equally as capable as men. #SpotifyEQUAL is an essential platform to raise awareness on women artists’ influence and amplify their extraordinary work. Much more importantly, the program will empower young female artists to overcome prejudice, know their worth, and continue to shape the future of music. It’s my absolute privilege and honor to be part of the #SpotifyEQUAL campaign."
